Interesting editorial. I'd have to say that's a pretty poor rationalization for not riding to work. There's always going to be headaches associated with bike commuting, but that's no excuse for not doing it. These days, it's probably even more dangerous to ride your bike to work on the Bow River pathway in Calgary than it is riding in downtown Vancouver... the sheer number of cyclists, most of whom ride as fast as they can, have little regard for safety and cycling etiquette can make for a nerve-wracking ride during rush hour on the bike path.
As for Bike to Work Day.... I was at home sick and there was about 2 feet of snow on the roads in Calgary... which inevitably led the Calgary Herald's story to be focussed on how only hard-core cyclists can ride to work in this city.... I guess we still have a ways to go.
